b'MEMBER NEWSMEMBER NEWS Kitsap Transit Continues Moving Forwardwith All-electric Ferry PlansE arlier this month, Kitsap Tran-sit issued a request for informa-tion (RFI) for electrical systems integratorstopoweritsplanned 150-passengerall-electricvessel.The vessel, designed by Glosten, is based on their existing hybrid-electric ferry, Waterman,whichwasbuiltbyAll AmericanMarinein2019.Kitsap Transit,Glosten,andAllAmerican Marine are all PVA members. An electrical systems integrator (ESI) will design, integrate, and deliver ma-jorelectricalsystems,includingthe batteries,propulsion,andshoreside charging infrastructure. The Kitsap Transit electric ferry will featurealightweightcompositesu-perstructure,anextremelyefficient, wake-reducing hull form, and numer-ous updates to enhance the passenger and crew experience.A request for proposals (RFP) for an electrical systems integrator is expected to be published in late summer 2023.
