All of the riverboats carry under 190 passen-gers and offer only outward- facing staterooms.American Symphony, built by PVA member Chesapeake Shipbuilding in Salisbury, Md., follows the 2021 debut of sister ship American Mel-ody, and it will be followed in early 2023 by a sixth modern series river-boat, American Serenade. American Symphony is the ninth riverboat in American Cruise Lines fleet, which includes four classic paddlewheel-ers and five modern riverboats, plus five small cruise ships.PHOTO COURTESY OF AMERICAN CRUISE LINESAccommodating 175 guests, American Symphony features five decks and, like all of Americans modern series vessels, offers only private bal-cony staterooms, including both suites and single staterooms. The riv-erboat offers panoramic views throughout, including a four-story glass atrium in the center of the ship. American Symphony showcases Amer-icans modern series hallmarkpatented opening bow and retractable gangway, as well as a fifth deck skywalk with an ellipse skylight which cantilevers over the fourth deck caf.
